Kathryn Stevens MCSP HCPC
Kathryn is currently employed by a local NHS trust where she works in the outpatient department of the hospital treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and pathologies. In addition Kathryn is also employed by Bristol City Football Club where she works with academy players assessing and treating paediatric sporting injuries and providing pitch side first aid cover for academy matches.
Having qualified in 2014 with First Class Honours from Keele University, she went on to work as Head Physiotherapist at Stoke City Football Club Ladies & Girls Academy. Whilst at Stoke, Kathryn also worked in a private clinic treating musculoskeletal and neurological injuries and pathologies.
For the last two years Kathryn has worked as lead Physiotherapist at Manchester United Soccer Schools during their summer training camps. Here she has treated on field injuries and completed rehabilitation of players, working with experienced football coaches to ensure players gained the most from the experience.
Currently undertaking an M.Sc. in Neuromusculoskeletal Healthcare at Keele University Kathryn has so far completed 8 modules including Acupuncture, Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging, Psychosocial aspects of Pain & Behaviour Change for Health & Well being and is now ready to start on her thesis to complete the M.Sc.
Putting her Behaviour Change module to good use, Kathryn is currently involved with Weston-Super-Mare Football club community scheme project 'Man V Fat' working to promoting healthy living in the community through a diet, advice and exercise based programme.
Alan McFerran MCSP HCPC
Alan is currently employed as Under 23 Physiotherapist for Bristol City Football Club. At Bristol City, his key responsibilities involve the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of injured footballers.
Having graduated from The University of Manchester in 2005 Alan spent 7 years working as a Physiotherapist in Ireland, where he practiced in a variety of clinical settings including orthopaedics, neuro/stroke rehab and musculoskeletal outpatients.
During his time in Ireland, Alan was also a Physiotherapist for a variety of Rugby teams and Gaelic Football teams, as well as Dundalk FC, the current League of Ireland Premier Division Champions.
Now, at Bristol City Football Club, Alan plays an active role in the prevention of injuries by screening players to identify injuries early and prevent them from occurring. He also develops individualised programmes to make the players less injury prone.
His post requires him to liaise with the club’s conditioning coach regarding overuse injuries with under 21 footballers, whilst working closely with the club doctor, first team physiotherapists, paramedics and coaches.
It also involves precise communication with orthopaedic consultants, to develop post-operative treatment plans for players who have undergone surgery.
Alan is registered with most major insurance companies including Bupa, Aviva, Cigna, WPA, BHSF and Vitality.
